Hello GP Band Families!
Welcome to “Festival Season”—our academic bands have been working on special pieces to perform at one or more Band Festivals throughout the month of March for adjudication and feedback from judges. Below is a list of upcoming events to put on your calendar. Please note the academic class that is participating and consider volunteering to chaperone or help transport larger instruments. Thank you for supporting your band students and the GP Band Program.

Saturday, March 9th
Concert & Symphonic Bands
Western Washington University Band Festival—Students, Chaperones, and Instrument Transportation Volunteers should arrive at GPHS at 6:30am to load instruments and busses and be ready to depart for Bellingham ASAP. For complete details and itinerary, please refer to the email from Mr. Morris. Volunteer needs: Bus Chaperones (4) will help coordinate loading and unloading of busses and Instrument Transportation Volunteers (2) needed to help transport larger instruments to and from Bellingham. Percussion Ensemble
Get ready to feel the exhilarating beat at the Glacier Peak High School Drumline Festival! This annual fundraising event showcases the incredible talents of local drumline teams, promising captivating rhythms and unforgettable performances. Adding to the excitement this year, we are thrilled to announce a special appearance by the Blue Thunder, bringing their electrifying energy to our event. DONATIONS & VOLUNTEERS needed: Donations of snacks and treats are needed to stock the concession stand. Volunteers are needed for set-up, working the concession stand, and clean-up at the end of the event. If you are interested in donating and/or volunteering, please visit grizzlyband.org/volunteer to sign-up.
This event is open to the public. Tickets are available to pre-purchase online now or at the door on March 16th.
Tuesday, March 19th
Concert & Symphonic Bands, Wind Ensemble
MPMEA Band Festival—Students, Chaperones, and Instrument Transportation Volunteers should arrive at GPHS at 7:15am to load instruments and busses and be ready to depart for Arlington High School at 7:30am. For complete details and itinerary, please refer to the email from Mr. Morris. Permission slips are due Friday, March 8th. Volunteer needs: Bus Chaperones (6) will help coordinate loading and unloading of busses and Instrument Transportation Volunteers (2) needed to help transport larger instruments to and from Arlington. Saturday, March 23rd
Jazz Bands I & II
Newport Jazz Festival—Students, Chaperones, and Instrument Transportation Volunteers should arrive at GPHS at 7:45am to load instruments and busses and be ready to depart for Newport High School at 8am. For complete details and itinerary, please refer to the email from Mr. Morris. Volunteer needs: Bus Chaperones (4) will help coordinate loading and unloading of busses and Instrument Transportation Volunteers (2) needed to help transport larger instruments to and from Bellevue. Friday, March 29th
Travel Ensemble – Final Silverwood Payment
Students participating in this year’s optional Band Trip to Silverwood Friday, May 17th-Sunday, May 19th need to make a final payment of $150 and/or have their trip fee paid in full by Friday, March 29th. Payments must be paid to the GPHS Bookkeeper online or in person by this date. Please refer to the email from Mr. Morris for complete details including permission slips and itinerary. Volunteer needs: Chaperones (6) will travel with students to/from Idaho. More information coming soon.
