Just a quick note for those participating in tomorrow’s MPMEA Solo & Ensemble Contest, hosted by Glacier Peak.
Students can have two different roles:
- A “competitor” role
- A “host” role or (and we need more!)
- or both.
If you are competing:
Each competing student would have a time scheduled for their solo, ensemble, or both. They will want to arrive well before that time to acclimate and get warmed up. We’re lucky this year it’s a Glacier Peak, but it rotates around each year. As a competitor they’re welcome to stay as long as they’d like to support their fellow Grizzlies. Many students do. So if their scheduled solo/ensemble is at 10:30, they may want to arrive 45 minutes beforehand.
If you have a role as a host:
Students of the home school will have a role to play. They may be a room monitor for various competition rooms, they may be greeters, etc. If that’s the case for you or your student, the’ll have a role that starts at a particular time, so The’ll want to arrive early enough so he can begin that role at that scheduled time.
There is still a need for student hosts. Please sign up in the hallway outside of the band room.
Concessions
There will be concessions! We’ll have pastries and juice in the morning and one of our board members is busy right now smoking a LOT of pork shoulders, so we’ll be offering pulled pork sliders along with hot dogs, chips, and sweets.
Guardians and students are all invited to help sell concessions. You can sign up for a volunteer slot here.
