The holiday fundraising opportunity is a great way to help you offset band-related costs. But we know that actually fundraising to friends and family might be challenging. We’ve put together this document to help those of you who want to take full advantage of this fundraising effort.
We’ve got exactly 10 days until the November 1st deadline for both our holiday fundraiser AND the $200 Disney trip deposit. Let’s look at a solid plan to take a huge dent out of the trip cost!
Quick Note: The boosters earn 50% of the cost of each sale, which we will earmark 25% to the boosters, and 75% to the student that made the sale. This does NOT mean they get the cash directly, but they can use these funds to pay for band-related expenses, including the Disney trip. The funds follow the student year to year and then may be allocated to a sibling or back to the booster general fund.
The Real Math First
For every sale, students are allocated 75% of the profit. Here’s what you actually make:
- 6″ Poinsettia ($18 sale) = $6.75 earmarked for you
- 8″ Poinsettia ($39.50 sale) = $14.81 earmarked for you
- 10″ Poinsettia ($50.50 sale) = $18.94 earmarked for you
- 24″ Wreath ($31.50 sale) = $11.81 earmarked for you
- 25ft Garland ($58 sale) = $21.75 earmarked for you
- Centerpiece ($25.50 sale) = $9.56 earmarked for you

Your $200 Deposit Goal
To reach your $200 deposit, you’ll need to sell approximately:
- 11 large (10″) poinsettias = $208.34
- OR 17 six-inch poinsettias = $114.75
- OR 17 wreaths = $200.77
- OR a mix of items
This means you need to average 1-2 sales per day to hit your goal!
10-Day Strategic Plan
Days 1-3: Family Blitz
Target: 5-6 calls per day
- Immediate family
- Grandparents
- Aunts/uncles
- Close family friends
Focus on larger items:
- Suggest 10″ poinsettias for main rooms
- Wreaths for front doors
- 25ft garland for stairways or over a double garage door
Days 4-7: Network Expansion
Target: 4-5 calls per day
- Parents’ workplace orders
- Neighbors
- Local businesses – Your dentist, chiropractor, physical therapist, or vet!
- Church/community groups
Smart selling combos:
- Office special: Multiple 6″ poinsettias
- Home decorator: Wreath + garland
- Perfect gift: Centerpiece + bow
Days 8-10: Final Push
Target: 3-4 calls per day
- Follow up with “maybe” responses
- Return to successful locations
- Bundle deals for last-minute buyers
