2018 Grizzly Band Camp
August 6th-10th
8am-4pm

WHO attends Grizzly Band Camp?

  • All students who registered to be a Grizzly Band Member.
  • The first day (Monday, August 6th) only:
    • Freshman, New Students to GP, Section Leaders, Drum Majors and Drum Line members attend from 8am-4pm.  
    • Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors will join the group for lunch at 12pm and will be ready to for a music rehearsal at 1pm.

WHAT should I wear?
  • Dress for the weather.  Layers work best.  It is helpful to wear shorts and a t-shirt for the uniform fittings.
  • Follow the schools dress code.  This is still a school event, so dress code applies to strap width and short length, please.
  • CLOSE-TOED SHOES!  No flip-flops or open-toed sandals.  Wear comfortable shoes as a large portion of the day will be out on the practice field on your feet.

WHAT should I bring?
  • Your Instrument (unless you use a school instrument.  i.e. Sousaphone, Mellophone, etc.)
  • Sack Lunch
  • Sunscreen!!!!
  • Sunglasses
  • Water Bottle 
  • Lyre and Flip Folder for marching music
    • You can pre-purchase these at local music stores, Amazon
OR
    • Representatives from Kennelly Keys will be  onsite Monday, August 6th, 11am-1pm to purchase onsite.

WHAT will happen each day?

    •   Sign-in - come early so that you are                ready to go at 8am.
    •   Field Marching Choreography
    •   Music Rehearsals
    •   Uniform Fitting
    •   Concert Uniform/Attire Fittings
    •   1 hour lunch break
    •   Cold Treats/Snacks
    •   FUN!

WHERE is Band Camp held?
  • Arrive and sign in EVERYDAY through the main doors of GPHS.
  • Camp will span the campus of GPHS from the Band Room, Performing Arts Center, Commons, & Football Fields.

Volunteering & Special Events

  • Grizzly Band Camp cannot happen without the support of many parent volunteers. 

  • The GPHS Band Boosters use a website based program called Charms to post and manage volunteer and donations at several Booster sponsored events every school year.

Grizzly Band Family BBQ

Thursday, August 9th, 6-7:30pm


This is a fun opportunity to hear your Grizzly Band play and meet other band families!


The GPHS Band Boosters will be grilling hot dogs and providing condiments.  We ask that families please bring something to share:


  • Last Name A-G:  Desserts
  • Last Name H-Q:  Fruit or Veggie Tray
  • Last Name R-Z:  Cold Drinks (6 pack of pre-                                   chilled cans/plastic bottles -                                   there are no cups or ice)

Halftime Show Preview & 
Ice Cream Social
Friday, August 10th, 2-4pm

On the last day of camp there will be a preview of the show students have learned during the week, followed by a celebratory ice cream social.  Families are encouraged to attend.  

The preview will take place on the practice field which is located on the NW corner of the school property (behind the tennis courts).  

After the preview is an ice cream social.  The GPHS Band Boosters will provide the ice cream and we ask that students bring in their favorite toppings to share on Friday morning.
